During World War II (1939-1945), the Battle of Normandy, which lasted from June 1944 to August 1944, resulted in the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany’s control. With the code name, Operation Overlord, the battle began on June 6, 1944, also known as D-Day, when some 156,000 American forces landed on five beaches along a 50-mile stretch of the heavily fortified coast of France’s Normandy region. The invasion was one of the largest amphibious military assaults in history and required extensive planning. By late August 1944, all of northern France had been liberated, and by the following spring, the Allies had defeated the Germans. The Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the end of war in Europe.
The interesting thought about this concept is that many of those 156,000 troops were 18, 19, and 20-year-old young men. Young men who stormed the beaches under heavy machine gun fire while their buddies were being cut down next to them. Yet, these young men continued to plow ahead with bombs exploding ahead of them and machine gun bullets kicking up the sand next to them. It was amazing how they rallied around a cause and pushed forward on those beaches to overcome the fascist Nazis and gain foot hold on the mainland.
As I see the response of liberals in country from the recent election results it is apparent that our young people in that 18-20 age-range seem to be overwhelming weak. I realize, not all, but many at our local high schools and public Universities are protesting. They are protesting day after day screaming “Not My President.” This is simply a by-product of our weak and liberal society and educational system. These young people are having crying rooms provided for them and therapy dogs are brought in to help comfort the depressed because the election results are too overwhelming to their little hearts.
Some of these young people are truly just big wimps and crybabies, while others are just using it as an excuse to skip class in hopes of not being penalized for it. Whatever the real reason for their protesting, it causes me to think to myself that it would be extremely difficult for us to face another World War II situation. If faced with such a situation we would have to call upon a large amount of our young people to go and fight for our country. I have asked myself several times the question “Could We Ever Take Normandy Again If We Had To?”
This rapid decline among our young people saddens me. It feels like a different America than the one I grew up in. Patriotism seems to be weakening at every turn as even our educational system seems to discourage people from displaying the American flag in fear that it might create tension in the wake of our recent election results. I am first and foremost a Christian, but I am also a Patriot who loves our country and our flag! I think we have to ask ourselves what we are to do in this current state of our society?
1. Stand by our biblical principles.
We are to be fundamental Bible believing Christians. We should be living our convictions and standards. Dress right, act right, talk right, and be faithful to the house of God. Also, feel free to display your American flags and thank every veteran you know for their service to our country. I believe the Bible is very much in favour of good old fashioned patriotism.
2. Win as many souls to Christ as you can.
We should never stop winning souls. We should also never waste our time counter protesting because ones mind will not change until their heart has been changed. Hearts can and will be changed through the power of Christ Jesus and His Salvation. Going soul winning will be the best way to change the hearts of the people and make a difference in our country. Soul winning is the greatest work you can do to impact your community!
3. Pray for our country more than you ever have before.
There is no doubt that the decline of our nation fits into many prophetic things found in the Bible. I do believe this, but I also believe that prayer can make a major difference and that at the very least it can prolong the decline of our nation. I am not a fatalist that looks at prophecy and thinks the doom of our nation is coming no matter what. Many Christians think of it that way and then say, Why bother?" Our decline has occurred because we have not prayed enough for our young people. Instead, we have allowed the government to take over their education and bring in the most liberal people to mold and make the mindset of these people. Now we are reaping the fruits of the last 50 or 60 years of education that forsakes God and emphasizes humanism. Perhaps if we had prayed harder we wouldn’t have gotten to the point in our society that we have observed this past week. Let’s not give up on prayer. If you have been praying, pray more and harder. If you haven’t been praying, START PRAYING NOW! We are still here and our country is still alive so let’s do our best to help it continue on! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
